stuart cityStuart Flowers and Gifts is holding its 4th Annual Ladies Night Out event this Thursday night from 5 to 8pm as a way to kick off the holiday season.

Stuart Flowers owner Christy O’Brien says the event will feature hors d’oeuvres, wine and massages for ladies in the local area, with products also available from multiple Stuart businesses in case attendees would like to get any holiday shopping done early this season.

O’Brien says the event will also feature a special speaker this year.  Marcia Roenfeld, a Registered Nurse Practitioner from Guthrie County Hospital Family Medicine in Stuart, will give a presentation about women and heart disease.

With heart disease being the number one killer of women across the country, Roenfeld says she just wants to provide area women with some information about how to stay heart healthy.

Roenfeld says she sees women dealing with chest pains and coronary artery issues in the emergency room all too often, and she has a few tips for local women to follow so that they can prevent themselves from ever having such issues.

“The number one thing would be to not be a smoker, and number two would be to exercise at least 30 minutes five times a week.  And then of course, having a healthy diet with half of the items on your plate being fruits and vegetables, and cut out a lot of the unsaturated fats.”

Anyone with questions about Roenfeld’s talk or about Ladies Night Out in general can contact O’Brien at 515-523-2264.
