A bridge involved in a one vehicle rollover accident in Greene County.

Sheriff Steve Haupert says at 7:34pm on Wednesday, a sheriff’s deputy and the Greene County Emergency Medical Services responded to a one vehicle rollover accident at 130th Street and P Avenue.

Haupert reports that 21 year-old Neil Edward McDowell of Jefferson was heading westbound on 130th Street when he asleep at the wheel and hit a bridge just west of P Avenue.  After striking the bridge, McDowell startled awake and drove into the north ditch rolling his 1997 Chevrolet Blazer onto its side.

Greene County EMS transported McDowell to the Greene County Medical Center for treatment and was released.  He was wearing his seatbelt.

Sheriff Haupert adds that McDowell was lucky to have awoke when he did because anytime a bridge is involved, the situation can escalate.

McDowell’s Chevrolet Blazer sustained $4,000 in damages and charges are pending following the completion of the investigation.
