The Guthrie Center Revitalization Corporation is closing in on its self-imposed December 1st deadline for its Main Street Iowa application.
With less than a week remaining until the requisite $30,000 has to be raised, Revitalization President Ken Laughery tells Raccoon Valley Radio the group is approaching its goal, and he expects to hit the $30,000 threshold by the end of this week.
While it is likely the group hits its goal in terms of funding, Laughery says they’ve received that in the form of just under 150 pledges, which is about 50% of the number of pledges they were hoping to receive.
However, Laughery doesn’t believe the lower pledge count will negatively impact they’re Main Street Iowa application. Ultimately, the biggest necessity for the application is community support, and Laughery says there has been tons of it.
Once the application is handed in to the Iowa Economic Development Authority’s Des Moines office on December 13th, Laughery and the rest of Revitalization will start preparing for their presentation to the IEDA in mid-January.
Following that presentation, the IEDA’s Main Street Iowa review committee will then make a decision on Guthrie Center’s complete application sometime in February.
