structure fireA five-alarm fire turns a structure into a total loss in Boone County.

According to Grand Junction Fire Chief Mark Renslow, the Grand Junction, Rippey, Ogden, Perry and Jefferson fire departments all responded to a machine shed fire at 5:30pm on Friday night at 1805 B Avenue.

Renslow states that when they arrived on the scene, the structure was fully engulfed in flames, but they were able to put it out before more damage could be done on the property.

“It was getting a propane tank pretty warm but we got it knocked down to where we could keep it cool.  The wind was in the right direction or it could’ve gotten the house.  But we’re lucky the wind was in the right direction.”

Renslow comments that no one was injured in the incident and the cause is believed to be an electrical malfunction inside the shed.

He points out that the structure was a total loss and among those items were a camper, an antique car, a backhoe, a combine and various other tools.
