Greene County High School junior Rylie Breheny won her division and received a gold medal at the Special Olympics’ State Bowling tournament in Des Moines.
She qualified for the state special olympics bowling tournament by winning her division (16-21 year-old females) in Fort Dodge in October.
Breheny says this is her first time ever bowling and it wasn’t the spirit of competition, but the spirit of friendship that got her to try bowling.
“Well, it’s always fun to have my best friends with me to cheer me on. But it’s always good to win sometimes or lose. But be happy no matter what happens.”
She competed along with 836 other bowlers on Saturday, November 23rd.
Breheny’s coach Deb Rogers says this is the third gold medal that a Greene County Ram has brought back from the Special Olympics State bowling tournament.
