This year was one of the highest amounts raised during the Jefferson Does silent basket auction.
Co-chair Kathy Walker says they raised $4,000 and had 67 baskets up for bids. She notes that about 30 businesses donated baskets which raised almost $1,900 with the rest coming from Does members’ baskets.
Walker states that the basket that brought in the most amount of money was Ann Frederick’s pie basket which went for $185. She offered to bake any kind of pie up to six pies for next year. Walker points out that there were four other baskets that had $100 bids.
She talks about the overwhelming support that the Does received from business donations this year.
“And last year we had some support from some businesses donating and this year, we had way more support. So we have to thank you all the businesses that participated in the basket auction and donated some really neat stuff.”
Last year, Walker adds, they raised $2,300.
All proceeds will go to the Greene County Adopt-A-Family organization.
