More holiday events are happening in Greene County this weekend.
On Saturday, Chris Henning with the chamber says thanks to local area sponsors, the Sierra Community Theatre is putting on a free kids movie called “Free Birds” at 11am plus Santa and Mrs. Claus will be at their Winterland location at 120 North Wilson Street from 12:30-2:30pm. Parents are encouraged to take their own pictures.
Incoming Chamber Board Secretary John Brunow says you can enjoy downtown area holiday shopping on Saturday and you can purchase “chamber checks” as a gift for someone else which benefits everyone in the area.
“And the rule of thumb is that a dollar spent in your home community ripples out and has the impact of seven times that much and so we want to encourage people to think about chamber checks as a way to express their appreciation to people this holiday season.”
Then on Sunday, the City of Grand Junction will be celebrating their “Jingle Into Junction” holiday events. From 12:30-4:30pm the public library will be having an open house and silent auction items and you can purchase tickets to take a tour of homes from 1-4:30pm where local residents open up their holiday decorated homes to the public to see and maybe get some holiday decoration ideas of their own.
Then from 4:30-6:30pm, a soup supper followed by entertainment from “Off the Track Players” will be at the community center and final silent auction item bids will be taken at the community center until 6:30pm.
All proceeds from the different events will go to benefit the City’s banners and signs.
