Greene Co. SupervisorsThe Greene County Board of Supervisors met yesterday in regular session.

During the open forum, a concerned citizen, Brent Goughnour from Jackson Township spoke to the Board about possibly closing a one mile stretch of road on 280th Street up to County Road P-14 as a no plow area for the secondary roads department.  He explained that his family uses that mile of road for semi-truck driving in the winter for West Central Cooperative and was concerned for people’s safety since part of the road is a culvert.

Board Vice-Chair Guy Richardson appreciated Goughnour’s comments and that the Board was accepting all comments and concerns from the public about different areas that are going to be proposed to not be plowed during the winter for efficiency for the secondary roads crews.

County Engineer Wade Weiss said that before they consider to shut down part of a road, they consider alternate routes and how many people actually live, if anyone, on the roads that are proposed.

The Supervisors did not take action on the topic until a full list of those projects are fully discussed.

The Board also approved the Weed Commissioner’s report for the year and renewed their contract for 2014 with the Governor’s Safety Traffic Bureau.

Several organizations made budget requests to the Board for the 2015 fiscal year.

RSVP of Boone and Greene Counties requested $800, the Early Learning Center submitted a $2,500 request, the Tower Foundation would like to have an increase from $6,500 to $7,500, Greene County Development Corporation asked for the same amount as last year of $47,500, the County Fair Association requested for $24,500 and Scranton Congregate Meals asked for between $1,500-$2,000 in funding support.

No actions were taken on any of the funding requests.
