Guthrie Center RevitalizationWith its application complete, the next step in the Main Street Iowa process for Guthrie Center is to send community members to Des Moines next month to give their town presentation to the Iowa Economic Development Authority.

Revitalization’s Debbie Menning is leading the group’s efforts as they prepare for their ever-important presentation, and she describes what the IEDA can expect to see on January 16th from the 30 town volunteers who will be participating.

“We have five scenes in the presentation which is actually a skit.  Each of the scenes will be rehearsing on their own and then come January, we will have two rehearsals with the entire group where we’ll try to put the thing together.”

Menning says her idea to make Guthrie Center’s presentation a skit came after she conferenced with people from Greenfield and Jefferson’s Main Street committees, and this is what she learned.

“The consensus was that our presentation needed to be something fun, creative, entertaining… something more than just the paperwork which is part of the written application, so that’s how (the skit) all got started.”

Menning says members of both Greenfield and Jefferson’s Main Street programs have been instrumental in providing the Revitalization group with advice throughout the application process, and she’s grateful for all their help.

To hear Menning discuss the Main Street presentation coming up next month in greater detail, tune-in to tomorrow’s Let’s Talk Guthrie County during the 9am, noon and 5 o’clock hours on 107.9FM, KKRF.
