Greene Co. SupervisorsThe Greene County Board of Supervisors met yesterday in regular session.

The Board approved hiring Amy Chapman as a full time custodian for the courthouse at $13.75 hourly wage.  They also approved passing a resolution in support of Governor Terry Branstad’s Home Base Iowa Initiative to bring veterans to Iowa for jobs and the first round of business tax credits for 221 units.

The Board also discussed preliminary committee and department lists for the upcoming 2014 calendar year.  No action was taken on the topic.

There was also a discussion on making changes to the county employee handbook about paying employees who work over 40 hours per week.  Auditor Jane Heun says the work week runs from Sunday to Saturday and so if an employee works a couple of hours on Sunday, then compensation time pay kicks in after a full time employee works over 40 hours.  No action was taken on the issue.

Finally, County Engineer Wade Weiss spoke to the Board about putting his proposed seven miles as “no snow removal” areas on next week’s agenda to formally close them in the county.
