Guthrie Center Elementary School finished up its 2nd Annual Betty Williamson Memorial Toy Drive at the end of last week, and Principal Diane Flanery says it went “very well” once again.
“We had a lot of presents under our tree here, and a lot of children in our area will be benefiting from that. (I) want to thank all the families who donated the toys. There was lots of fun stuff for boys, girls, younger, older… so we had a really good response.”
Flanery says the school did not count how many items were donated, but her car was “completely full of gifts” that were delivered to New Opportunities in Guthrie Center and the 3Cs in Panora on Friday.
Those donated gifts will be given to families in the local area today so that children in need have presents to be unwrapped for Christmas tomorrow.
