droughtWe’ve been reporting news about drought conditions for months now, with little change in the overall conditions as of recently.

Which is why it might surprise you to know that all three of our National Weather Service reporting locations have registered above normal levels of precipitation in 2013.

According to the latest data, Perry has surpassed their annual precipitation level by more than three inches this year registering 34.23 inches.

Jefferson has seen more than four inches more than normal, registering 34.1 inches in 2013.

And Guthrie Center has barely surpassed their normal rainfall amounts with 36.78 inches.

The majority of the precipitation can be attributed to the very wet spring we had this year though things have slowed down the last half of 2013.

Dallas, Greene and Guthrie Counties as a whole range from abnormally dry to severe drought conditions according to the National Climatic Data Center.
