Guthrie Center Elementary School received a thoughtful donation last month from the Booster Club that students will greatly benefit from in the near future.
25 iPads were given to the school shortly before students went away for winter break, and Principal Diane Flanery says kids will be able to use them after her teachers go through in-service training with the devices next week.
Flanery says her school now has 100 iPads that can be used by students, and she’s very appreciative of the Booster Club’s willingness to help kids at the elementary level.
“It is sometimes very easy for the public to see what the Booster Club does for the older kids, but they actually do support us a lot at the Elementary too. They (also) bought books from our book fair for each of the teachers to have for their individual classrooms so that was another nice donation. It’s really nice to get support from those types of organizations because it shows they really care about the elementary students’ education.”
Flanery says the new iPads will predominantly be used by students for “skill-building exercises” in areas where they need specific improvement.
Flanery adds that the iPads’ ability to give students and teachers immediate performance feedback is what makes their use so effective and popular in elementary classrooms
