Sheriff HaupertGreene County Sheriff Steve Haupert commends the efforts of the investigation done by his deputies involves three individuals from Grand Junction who are accused of criminal mischief with a BB gun and property damage in the City.

Sheriff Haupert says the lead was handled by deputy Dave Kersey and assisted by Chief Deputy Jack Williams.  He states that in about 12 hours after the first set of reports came in during December 23rd, Kersey was interviewing property owners and had a good idea of how to proceed with the investigation.

“He (Kersey) was right on top of it and had good help from Chief Deputy Jack Williams.  As everyone knows it didn’t take long to wrap the case up.  So I was very gratified (with) the work the deputies put forth and the quick action on that.”

Sheriff Haupert appreciates all the work that the deputies have given him and he expresses the need to have everyone be on the same page and act as a cohesive team.

“The deputies have been excellent.  As everyone knows my first year as being sheriff, the first six months were, to say the least a little bit stressful.  And everybody just pitched in and it went as well as could be expected for the circumstances and the pressures that we were all under.”

He comments that he has complete confidence in all of his employees to handle their jobs professionally and responsibly.
