The Greene County Chamber Board will be headed up by a familiar face of Ben Yoder from Home State Bank.
He has been on the Board since 2009 and has served as president one time prior to serving again this year.
Yoder sees the Chamber as a vibrant part of the county and he would like to see it play a bigger part as a promoter for events that it doesn’t sponsor. He points out that the Chamber sponsors eight to ten major events of the year, but he would like to see it be a voice for other events that take place in all communities and help improve the quality of life in those communities.
One way that he plans to do that is by establishing a county welcome center. Yoder explains plans are in progress with a welcome center on the southeast corner of the downtown square in Jefferson. His major project for 2014, Yoder believes having a welcome center would give tourists a public restroom facility and help promote anything that’s going on in the county.
He talks about what leadership means to him and why he felt the need to serve as president of the Board again.
“Leadership comes down to service and serving those around you and I think the heart of any leadership is realizing that credit does not come to you The credit of things well done really goes to the community and those around you.”
He took over as president during the last Board meeting in December.
