The West Central Valley School District is asking that local community members, school staff and parents of Wildcat students participate in a recently distributed needs assessment survey that will help administrators make school-related decisions to improve the district’s overall direction.
Superintendent Dr. David Arnold says school districts are required to send out needs assessment surveys every five years, but this is the first time West Central Valley is making the survey available online.
“We take a look at what (people) say, we take it back to the School Board and let them take a look at it. We’ll address issues if there are issues and go from there. But it’s good when we have a lot of people provide feedback, and this year we’re able to do it online, so hopefully that will increase the number of people participating.”
For a district of over 900 students, Arnold says the last time such a needs assessment survey was sent out only a couple hundred were ultimately returned. Those that were returned were completed predominantly by students’ parents, but Arnold says he hopes to garner a broader base of community input with this year’s survey.
