Staff in the Perry School District will meet tomorrow afternoon to learn more about how to keep everyone in the district safe during an emergency.

The school district’s safety committee is hosting the information session to share information gathered at a recent ALICE training event.  Perry Police Officers Eric Vaughn and Pat Jans along with Buildings and Grounds Director Kevin McLaughlin attended the Alert/Lockdown/Inform/Counter/Educate training last spring and have since been working on a plan to implement here in Perry.

Research shows most violent intruder situations last between five and seven minutes, which is less time than it takes first responders to get there and enter the building.  The ALICE training aims to equip adults with the skills needed to help prepare for life and death situations.

The awareness session will help all staff members plan for the next steps in the process as they discuss the best ways to improve the safety of all students and staff.  It takes place in the performing arts center tomorrow at 2:45pm.
