ADMDespite losing their two matches Tuesday evening against Carlisle and Winterset, ADM wrestling coach Justin Schmauss remains encouraged with the direction his team is heading.

Last weekend, the Tigers had three wrestlers–Zach Johnston, Nathan Heath and Trevor Harsh–win their home invitational tournament at their respective weight classes, and Coach Schmauss says his highlight from the weekend was watching Heath dominate in his final match.

“Nathan got a little redemption off of a guy that he lost earlier (this year) to from Webster City, who at this point in the year is ranked fourth in the state.  He pretty much man-handled the kid and pinned him.”

Heath was actually dominant in Tuesday’s action, winning both of his heavyweight matches via pins.

From the beginning of the year, Coach Schmauss has said the season is like a crescendo–he wants to have his wrestlers peaking at the right time.  For the top performers in his lineup, Schmauss certainly believes that’s happening.

“I described to a few people that have been asking me how they’re doing… ‘they’re hot’, and I hope they can keep that level up and even get better. Things are coming together well, but we’re not satisfied right now.  We’re still going to keep working and try to build for the postseason.”

ADM will be at home for a triangle dual this evening.  The Tigers will have two opportunities to continue ‘peaking’ against Carroll and Bondurant-Farrar.  Matches begin at 5:30 in the North Gym.
