Thousands of bicyclists are expected to make their way through Dallas and Guthrie Counties again this summer. No, we’re not part of the 2014 RAGBRAI route but there is a new ride that will make its way along the Raccoon River Valley Trail this June.
The BACooN Ride: The Ride for the Cured, takes place Saturday, June 28th on the 71 mile Raccoon River Valley Trail Loop. Officially taking off from Waukee, riders will pass through Ortonville, Adel, Redfield, Linden, Panora, Yale, Herdon, Jamaica, Dawson, Perry, Minburn and Dallas Center before returning to Waukee. Though cyclists can also take a shorter route by beginning at one of the other optional starting points.
The ride is presented by RAGBRAI, the Blue Ribbon Bacon Board and the Iowa Bicycle Coalition.
Cyclists will be able to enjoy numerous bacon snacks at various stops throughout the day, there will be a bacon themed lunch, drink specials, a custom steel pint glass and commemorative t-shirt all offered as perks for registration.
Pre-registration is $45 before May 1st, with the price increasing by $10 after that.
