Greene County RamsLast Saturday, several Greene County High School students competed at the Iowa High School Speech Association’s district large group contest.

Co-coach Glenna Strong says five of their eight events qualified for next month’s state contest.  She points out that they qualified five large group events last year to state as well.

She is hoping to at least match last year’s advancement of one event to the all-state festival which is at the Iowa State Center in Ames on February 22nd this year.  Last year, she states that they qualified one event in short film and one of those students is a returning competitor in senior Kyle Betty who has qualified in radio news.

The other events include group mime, group improv, one short film, ensemble acting along with radio news.

A few students will be competing in two events which include Deal Neal for radio news and short film, Victoria Simms for group mime and ensemble acting and Annie Palmer for short film and group improv.

Other students to join them are Karl Jones, Parker Willis, Logan Hoyt, Aly Matthews, Cecilia Blasnitz, Jamie Wasson, Kennedy Sims, Kyann Brown, Victoria Sims, Emily Vander Wilt, Anna Kozal, Reilly Stratton, Danielle Johnson, David Petersen and Jarrett Delp.
