Greene Co. SupervisorsThe Greene County Board of Supervisors met yesterday.

The Supervisors approved the Compensation Board’s recommendation of a 3% across-the-board salary increase for elected county positions with the exception of their own salaries which will be a 2% increase.

That measure passed 4-1 with Supervisor Tom Contner opposing it saying that he didn’t want to have a raise in his salary.

Tom Verdin with the Verdin Company gave an update on the Mahanay Bell Tower structure and plans for possible expansion.

He told the Board that the 14 bells on top of the Bell Tower are open to all weather elements and are showing more severe rust and corrosion since his report last year.  Currently, only the Westminster Bells are working properly and all the other bells aren’t.

The Board decided to get a proposal from him about replacing the current bell frame with a new 48 bell frame to fit the current dimensions and that way they can plan on installing the rest of the bells when they get them to have a full four-octave set of bells in the future.  Plus, they also decided to do an engineer’s analysis of the full project.

The Supervisors also approved an agreement for website development with Municipal CMS and a resolution to appoint CliftonLarsonAllen LLP to conduct audits for Wild Rose Jefferson, LLC.

In other business, the Board looked at its own budget proposal for the 2015 fiscal year, but since they changed their salary increase, no formal totals were presented.  The medical examiner’s budget is proposing an increase to $22,000.
