Midwest Partnership Executive Director Chad Schreck is headed to Des Moines on Wednesday to participate in the Professional Developers of Iowa’s (PDI) Grow Iowa Day at the Iowa State Capitol.
The day’s agenda includes a variety of business topics such as Tax Increment Financing (TIF), workforce issues, income tax reform and more, and Schreck is encouraging area business owners and community leaders to make the trek east as well.
“All the developers and economic development people go down and we try to meet with our legislators, let them know what our most important topics are… some of those this year are going to continue to be Tax Increment Financing, tax rebates. (We’re) making sure that those things continue to move forward and we can use them as tools to help our small towns because that’s really where they’re the most helpful is in our rural communities.”
Schreck says anytime people from our local communities have the chance to make their voices heard in Des Moines, they should take advantage of that opportunity.
“(The Capitol) is our public place, that’s where we’re the bosses technically. So get out there and talk with your local officials and state officials whenever you get the chance.”
Grow Iowa Day at the State Capitol will begin at 11am Wednesday and run until 2pm. Area residents and business leaders interested in participating in Grow Iowa Day can contact Midwest Partnership to receive a registration packet via email. Call them at 515-523-1262.
