The Greene County Board of Supervisors met yesterday in regular session.
No public comments were made during the public hearing on the amendments to the 2014 fiscal year’s budget for the county.
The Supervisors approved the $278,418 in amendments for revenues which includes $249,068 for secondary roads and conservation funds from the Federal Emergency Management Agency with payments from damages that occurred last May and June from flooding in the county and transferring $30,000 from conversation to bike trail fund.
They also approved adding $382,817 in expenses due to changes in public safety and legal services for $46,450, FEMA money to conservation department for $108,660, $156,707 to the secondary roads department from FEMA funds, administration payments of $11,000 and the $30,000 in funds transferring to capital projects from conservation for building the second cabin at Spring Lake Park.
The beginning fund balance of July 1, 2013 went from $3,530,780 to $3,716.050 and the ending fund balance in June 30, 2014 increased $80,871 from $3,422,838 to $3,503,709.
The Board also passed a resolution officially transferring $5,000 from Local Option Sales and Services Tax to the Bike Trail Fund, $20,000 from bike trail receipts to the Bike Trail Fund and $10,000 from the General Fund to the Conservation Reserve Fund to help complete building the second long cabin at Spring Lake Park.
The Supervisors approved a resolution that they would be the fiscal agent/applicant for Midwest Partnership and Region XII Council of Government’s Community Development Block Grant through the Iowa Economic Development Set Aside program. Executive Director Chad Schreck told the Board that they are applying for a $250,000 grant, which is awarded monthly, to expansion projects that create new jobs for Scranton Manufacturing who will be creating 50 jobs for up to $5,000 each for the grant.
The Board finished the meeting in another budget workshop.
