Mark your calendars Guthrie Center Elementary parents… coming up on Monday, February 17th is the annual “Celebration of Learning” for parents of Kindergartners, 1st and 2nd graders.
Principal Diane Flanery encourages participation from all elementary parents, and she explains what the celebratory event is all about.
“The ‘Celebration of Learning’ is a nice opportunity for the parents to be able to come in and walk through some stations that the teachers have available that highlight some of the things that the kids do during their school day. So the parents might sit down with their child and work on things at a math center, or the writing center, or they might get instructed about how to use an iPad… things like that.”
Flanery says the annual learning celebration has been on-going at Guthrie Center Elementary for many years, and she explains what differentiates it from something like parent-teacher conferences.
“Teachers are available to answer any questions about anything, but is pretty much student-led. The kids are always really excited to just show their parents what it is they do during a school day.”
Flanery says parents can expect more details about the “Celebration of Learning” event in the weeks ahead. Anyone with questions can call GC Elementary at 641-332-2720.
