Those who participated in the Bike Ride to Rippey this past weekend seemed to enjoy themselves, but nearly half of those taking part didn’t pay to ride.
According to Perry Area Chamber of Commerce executive director Bob Wilson, a total of 480 people registered for the 2014 ride. That includes pre-registration, day of registration and those who support the ride. The total is down around 400 riders from last year’s BRR.
Each year, a volunteer sits just outside town along the route and counts the number of people biking by… Wilson says this year around 900 people were counted, nearly twice as many as the total number of people who signed up to participate.
BRR is the Chamber of Commerce’s largest fundraiser of the year with proceeds going to put on various programs.
