A group of students will represent Greene County High School at the Iowa High School Speech Association’s All-State Festival next week in Ames.
Co-coach Glenna Strong says Karl Jones, Dan Neal, Parker Willis, Kyle Betty and Logan Hoyt qualified in radio news with their piece entitled, “KPLD”. She states that in order to be selected for all-state, all three judges must give an event I-ratings and it must be deemed an “Outstanding Performer”.
She points out that this is the fifth consecutive year that they will send a large group event on to the all-state festival. Strong states that their performance will be on a CD, that will be shown at 2pm on Saturday, February 22nd on Iowa State University’s campus in Ames.
Other events receiving I-ratings and not selected for all-state includes group mime, group improv and short film. Ensemble acting had an overall II-rating from the judges.
She adds that she enjoys seeing the effort that all her students put into this activity and watching their accomplishments throughout the year.
