The Greene County ISU Extension office in Jefferson will be hosting its second testing date on Monday, February 17th for 4-H’ers.
Youth and Families Coordinator Sarah Jo Reynolds says any 7th-12th grade 4-H’ers wishing to exhibit animals which includes beef, goats, sheep, rabbits, poultry and swine must attend either a training or testing session for the Food-Safety-Quality-Assurance to show at the county or state fairs this year.
She points out that once you pass the FSQA test, you are covered from 7th-9th grades and again when you’re a 10th-12th grader.
Reynolds talks about why you need this testing.
“To help youth and their parents to better understand what they can do to produce the safest food possible.”
Testing will be done at the extension office in Jefferson on Monday, February 17th from 2-5pm. The first testing date was done on February 5th.
However, Reynolds comments that if you can’t make Monday’s testing date, then contact the extension office to set up a separate time to take the test.
She encourages pre-registration by calling the extension office by the end of the day today at 386-2138.
