iowa ffaTo help celebrate National FFA Week this week, the Greene County FFA Chapter invites the public to a pancake breakfast this Thursday.

Advisor Cortney Schmidt says the menu includes pancakes, sausages and a variety of beverages.  It is a free-will donation meal and Schmidt explains what the proceeds will be used for.

“We have a little greenhouse that is starting to cave in a little bit, as well as we need some updated supplies and doing some repairs for the aquaculture lab as well.”

She explains why they chose to have a pancake breakfast for the public during National FFA Week.

“Honestly, it’s kind of a tradition for FFA Chapters to have some kind of breakfast to thank the community for their support.  And so the kids chose pancakes and they said they want to make them, so we’re going with it.”

Schmidt points out that there are 68 active members in the Greene County FFA Chapter.

It will be from 7-8:30am on Thursday, February 20th at the Ram Restaurant at the Greene County High School in Jefferson.  And in case of inclement weather where school is delayed or cancelled, Schmidt points out that the breakfast will be postponed to Thursday, February 27th.
