The application period is now open for fire departments throughout the country to apply for fiscal year 2013 Fire Prevention & Safety Grants, and Adair & Guthrie County Emergency Management Coordinator Bob Kempf encourages all of our area departments to try and take advantage of the funding opportunity.

FP&S grants are part of the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Assistance to Firefighters Grants, and they are used to support “projects that enhance the safety of the public and firefighters in the event of a fire or a fire-related hazard.”

The primary goal of the aforementioned grant is “to reduce injury and prevent death among high risk populations,” according to Kempf.
