A deputy was dispatched to the Casey’s General Store in Grand Junction for the report of a male subject standing outside the station. The deputy determined the identity of the male to be Michael Edgar Waters of Des Moines. Waters stated that he had been given a ride to Grand Junction and was trying to get to Des Moines. The deputy found him a warm place to stay for the night.

The Greene County Sheriff’s Office, Scranton Fire Department, Jefferson Fire Department, Grand Junction Fire Department and Greene County Emergency Medical Services personnel were all dispatched to a structure fire at 1631 E Avenue south of Scranton. A machine shed that is owned by Craig Peterson of that address was a total loss. A pickup truck, farm tractor, planter, cultivator and approximately 10 head of breeding ewes with 20 head of lambs were also lost in the intense fire. Deputy’s arriving first at the scene were able to get 12 to 15 head of sheep away from the burning structure.

A deputy was advised of a backing accident that occurred at the Post Office in Grand Junction and that the vehicles had left the scene. The deputy advised both parties involved that they will need to pick up the accident report forms at the Greene County Law Enforcement Center due to leaving the scene of the accident.

A deputy was dispatched to 800 Percival Street, Lot 10 in Grand Junction for a reported verbal domestic altercation. After an investigation of all persons present at the residence, the deputy subsequently arrested Amanda Lynn Mehalovich age 34 of Des Moines on an outstanding warrant from Polk County for a probation violation. Also arrested at this time was Jason Lee Lippart age 34, also from Des Moines on an outstanding warrant from the Urbandale Police Department for possession of drug paraphernalia. Jason Lippart was released to the Urbandale Police Department and Amanda Mehalovich is still being held at the Greene County Law Enforcement Center.

In all cases when a defendant has been charged, this is merely an accusation, and all  defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
