For the second straight year, the Perry Jayette basketball team fell one game short of the state tournament after losing to Raccoon River Conference Carlisle 57-50 in front of 1250 fans at the Norwalk gym. Carlisle outscored Perry 17-9 in the fourth quarter to seal the deal. The Wildcats connected on 21-24 from the foul line after hitting only 57% all season. Perry jumped out to a 10 point lead early in the second half at 35-25 but Carlisle responded with a 9-0 run to end the third quarter at 41-40. The Cats then took over the game in the fourth quarter with numerous second and third chance opportunities on the offensive glass. Carlisle outrebounded Perry by a nearly 3-1 margin on the night. Junior Claire Marburger led all scorers with 20 points while junior Maggie Lowe finished with 18. Perry closes out the season with a record of 19-5 and will lose one senior in Julie Diw. Carlisle moves into the state tournament for the first time since 2002.
