Kole HigginsA traffic stop in Jefferson leads to a Grand Junction man getting arrested on a felony charge.

Jefferson Police Chief Dave Morlan says an officer made a traffic stop for a vehicle without license plates at Mulberry and 220th Street at 5:35pm last night.

When the officer called dispatch to run his driver’s license, it was discovered that 19 year-old Kole Higgins of Grand Junction had an arrest warrant from Webster County for a Class B Felony charge for first degree burglary from November of 2013.

Morlan states that Higgins was arrested and taken to the Law Enforcement Center and was then transported to the county line at 6:11pm where he was picked up by a Webster County Sheriff’s deputy and then taken to the Webster County Jail in Fort Dodge where he remains on a $25,000 cash surety bond.

Morlan adds that when Higgins was a juvenile, he was involved in a chase that ended behind City Hall in February of 2012 and he was charged with eluding an officer and interference with official acts.
