FRONT OF CASINOA standing ovation was the reaction by several Greene County supporters of a proposed casino following a presentation to the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission earlier today in Altoona.

Grow Greene County Gaming Corporation President Norm Fandel says the presentation went very well.  He points out the highlights from the presentation.

“Its was all good.  I think the big keynote was the whole county is behind this project and I think that’s what we tried to indicate or tell to the committee.  This wasn’t something that they (Wild Rose) brainstormed it was from the county that seeked Wild Rose to do this project and it was a county-wide effort.”

Fandel adds that seven of the eight members of the nonprofit GGCGC group were in attendance along with about 100 other people were there to witness the 45-minute presentation by Wild Rose Jefferson, LLC.

He notes that Chief Operating Officer of Wild Rose Entertainment Tom Timmons addressed some of the findings that were discussed at today’s meeting by the Commission about the current casino situation in Iowa from two firms.

Fandel agreed with Timmons response that he didn’t believe that opening another casino would undermine the success of any current existing casino and that by opening a casino in Jefferson, Wild Rose wouldn’t cannibalize their Emmetsburg location simply because it is more than 60 miles away.

Fandel comments that he was pleased with the turnout of community members and adds that he’s looking forward to the May 29th site visit and public forum scheduled to be at the Sierra Theatre in Jefferson.
