The Greene County Chamber Board met yesterday.
The Board heard reports from its eight standing committees. Keith Pederson presented an update of the 2014 proposed budget. He said that roughly he expects this year’s revenues to be around $152,100 with expenses totaling $150,650. No action was taken on the issue due to a finalized copy to be presented at the April meeting.
John Brunow reported for the promotions committee and said that there will be a ribbon cutting ceremony for Sally’s Alley on the south side of the downtown square in Jefferson on June 7th for more details to follow.
The Board then discussed ideas for the 2014 tourism guide. Committee co-chairs Angie Pederson and Omega Sang said that they felt the guide needed to have a dual purpose of promoting tourism in the county as well as businesses in the county. The Board approved to have the 2014 guide printed later this summer and will only print one edition every other year with a digital format of the guide to be put on the Chamber’s website.
Alan Robinson with Jefferson Matters: Main Street told the Board that there will be an after-hours, informal meeting at the Jefferson Elks Lodge on Monday, March 17th from 5-7pm to learn more about the Community Development Block Grant with a special guest speaker and the public was invited to that event.
President Ben Yoder concluded the meeting by requesting a vote from the Board at next month’s meeting to decide on the benefits of having a Chamber in the community to better promote why people and businesses should invest with them.
The Board meetings have been changed from the last Wednesday of every month to the first Wednesday of every month at noon at the lower level of the Sierra Community Theatre and the meetings are open to the public.
