Greene County Middle SchoolThe public is invited to the Greene County Middle School spring play called “Truck Stop Chili” later this month.

Director Angie Pederson says the play is about a place called Leroy’s Clip’n’ Dip which is the world’s first beauty parlor and auto garage in the fictitious Gizzard, West Virginia.  One of the lead characters, Otis Hooper played by Arthur Bardole, starts up a band called Truck Stop Chili and is discovered by a passing through Hollywood director who thinks Otis will be a perfect lead role in a movie.

Pederson states that it’s a play that shows how a person goes from beloved by a community and then forgets where he has come from in order to make a personal advancement in life.

She talks about why she continues to direct the middle school play after seven years.

“Anybody that knows me outside of the school world knows that drama is what I do.  So the very best way to get people interested in it is to get them started when their young.  And introduce them to shows that are fun and shows that are quality and show them what the process is to putting on a great show.”

Pederson comments that they’ve had less time to rehearse because of the winter weather delaying and cancelling school, but the students have been flexible to work around their schedules for practices.

The free performance will be at the Greene County High School auditorium at 7pm on Friday, March 14th.
