No life-threatening injuries were involved in two separate vehicle accidents yesterday in Greene County.
Sheriff Steve Haupert says the first accident happened at 8:48am on Highway 30 between Scranton and Jefferson near J Avenue. He states that 53 year-old George Crouch of Jefferson was traveling westbound on Highway 30 when his suffered possible medical issue and drove his 1994 Geo Metro 300 feet into the north ditch striking several trees.
Haupert notes that responding deputies had to cut down some trees to get Crouch out of his vehicle.
Crouch was then transported to the Greene County Medical Center by emergency services personnel for observation and was later released without major injuries.
Then at 10:39am, the Greene and Carroll counties Sheriff’s office and the Coon Rapids Police Department responded to another one vehicle rollover accident at 280th Street and A Avenue near the Greene and Carroll County line. The victim, 45 year-old Polly Bauer of Coon Rapids told authorities that her accident happened at 3am that same day when she failed to make a left turn at the T intersection going from Carroll to Greene County and her 2001 Oldsmobile Intrigue GX left the roadway, struck a field drive way and rolled several times until the vehicle came to a rest in a farm field some 218 feet from the road.
Haupert adds that she didn’t sustain major injuries and was given a ride to her home. He says Bauer was cited for failure to maintain control and failure to prove security against liability with more charges pending at this time.
Haupert comments that both vehicles were total losses and both people were wearing the seat belts which helped saved them from sustaining major injuries.
