West Central Valley WildcatWest Central Valley is putting on its spring musical tonight and tomorrow, and vocal teacher Nancy Mars invites all area residents to attend and show their support for a talented group of singers and actors.

This year’s musical is called “Give My Regards to Broadway,” and Mars describes what the experience will be like for those who attend.

“It involves George Cohan songs, and it has everything from intrigue, to love story, to mobsters, and it is a comedy but it also has some very touching parts in it.  I just think everyone would really enjoy it.”

“Give My Regards to Broadway” is originally a single song, written by Cohan in 1904.

More than 20 students will be involved in the musical’s production the next two nights, and Mars hopes area residents will come see just how talented her students are as performers. Mars’ interest in showing off her students stems from an experience her family had when they moved into the area more than a decade ago.

“When we moved to this area 14 years ago we went to a musical… my youngest son was planning to go to West Central Valley and we saw ‘The Sound of Music,’ and I absolutely blown away that a small town could pull something off like that and do it in really such an excellent fashion.”

Tickets for tonight or tomorrow night’s show are $5 at the door.  Both begin at 7pm and are being held in the commons area at West Central Valley High School.

Funds raised will go back in the school’s musical fund, which helps to buy the rights, costumes and props for future musical productions.
