basketball thru hoopThe ADM girls basketball team held its end-of-season banquet last Thursday night, which means the 2013-14 season really has drawn to a close.

Head coach Brett Watson says attending the team banquet comes with mixed emotions every year.

“It’s bittersweet.  It’s always fun to talk about all the accomplishments you’ve had and about some of the positives you had throughout the season, but it’s also difficult to say goodbye to a very strong senior class.  These three girls (Madi Bertman, Haley Canney and Kendra Chapman) have been part of this program for four years along with myself and it is really tough to say goodbye to them, but you also know that you’ve developed relationships with them and they’ll continue on past this basketball season.  You hope to see those girls come back during Christmas from college to just catch up and see how they’re doing.”

One of those seniors did received some All-Raccoon River Conference recognition for her play this season.  Madi Bertman was an honorable mention selection.

Also at the banquet, ADM had two players named as all-conference second-team performers: Brianna Mueller and Molly Jacobsen.

Stay tuned to tomorrow’s sports for reaction from Coach Watson about his girls’ all-conference honors.
