The Perry High School mock trial team recently competed in the Iowa Bar Association’s central region contest in Des Moines.
The bluejays finished the day with a 1-1 record. As the defense, Perry was defeated by West Des Moines Valley but was praised by judges for their poise, professionalism and preparation. When acting as the prosecution, the local team was victorious against Norwalk.
Out of a total of 32 teams from 13 central Iowa schools, Perry placed 19th in the contest.
Samantha Sweet and Cameron Martinez received special recognition by the judges.
Other team members include Alicia Calderon, Tiffany Hull, Ernesto Fuentes, Sarah Sweet, Katrina Leesley, Tiffani Tapia, Zach Robergs and Heaven Van Dorn.
