Greene County Sheriff

The Greene County Sheriff’s office is hoping the public can help identify one of the drivers involved in a hit and run accident in Grand Junction Monday.

Sheriff Steve Haupert says at 5:25pm, 25 year-old Phillip Michael Kenoyer of Grand Junction was traveling eastbound on 2nd Street when a red car pulled out from the intersection at 18th Street.  This caused Kenoyer to clip the front bumper of the other vehicle.  He then lost control, as his 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee drive into the ditch and caught on fire.

The Grand Junction Fire and Rescue Unit responded to the scene and extinguished the fire.  Haupert comments that Kenoyer’s vehicle was a total loss, and the exact cause of the blaze has not yet been determined.  A private vehicle transported Kenoyer to the Greene County Medical Center where he was treated for minor injuries and released.

Sheriff Haupert says they are still investigating the crash and no charges are pending at this time.

Anyone who can help identify the red vehicle involved in the crash is asked to call the Greene County Law Enforcement Center at 386-2136.

Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
