Jake-ChapmanBoth the House and Senate are still working on their budget bills before wrapping up this year’s session.

With just over two weeks left before the 100 day deadline, Senator Jake Chapman says the process has slowed down considerably and he’s not in favor of his options.

“I have no intention on voting for any of these budget bills, not a single one” says Chapman.  “When you are increasing spending by seven and a half percent and household incomes are growing by three point eight percent, that’s irresponsible.  There are many things in these budget bills that I am very supportive of, very supportive, but at the end of the day I don’t think it’s responsible for us to be voting on budgets that are out pacing household income by almost twice the rate.”

Senator Chapman says he doesn’t feel the proposed budgets are sustainable.

“When we have some serious issues that come before us in the next couple of years, I want to be able to look back and say ‘I saw this coming, I knew it was coming, I told my constituents it was going to be a problem.”  I hope I’m wrong.  I really hope I’m wrong but I’m very much concerned with this budget” says Chapman.
