“We’re starting to get the pieces to fall into place of the things we want to see as we head through the tough part of our schedule and get ready for the end of the season.” Those are the words of Greene County boys’ head track and field coach Dean Lansman after his team finished second to Panorama in Panora on April 7 at the Kip Janvrin Coed Invitational. He added that last week was a tough week of practice and that seemed to pay off, judging by Monday’s performances.

The Rams had several personal best performances in Panora at what was their first full meet of the outdoor season. They were able to get 13 of 18 events contested in Jefferson on March 31 at the Greene County Early Bird Meet before extremely windy and cold conditions forced cancellation of the final five events. Coach Lansman added, “I was very happy with all the performances at Panorama, all the way across the board.”

The April 7 meet is the only one this week for the Greene County girls and boys. Coach Lansman told Raccoon Valley Radio to prepare for action on April 14, he and girls’ head coach Kelly Simpson had a light practice day on Tuesday, but Wednesday and today will be heavier. “We’ll get two really good practices in before we go to what we call our pre-meet night on Friday.” The Rams go to Gowrie for the Prairie Valley Relays for boys while the girls from Greene County head west to Carroll for the Tiger Relays.
