The deadline for the fourth annual Greene County summer internship is approaching.
Greene County ISU Extension Coordinator Michael Cooley says all students who have graduated from a Greene County high school and has completed at least one-year of post secondary education are encouraged to apply.
He talks about the qualifications and adds that they can be creative in finding the right experience for you to gain over the summer.
“For the most part, we really look at the student and their academic performance, extracurricular involvement, select the best candidates and then based on their area of major, we see if we can match them up with one of the businesses that’s initially expressed interest. But sometimes, we reach out to some other employers because we want to make sure that it’s a good experience.”
Applications are available now and will be accepted until Friday, April 18th to the Extension office in Jefferson.
It is an eight-week, 40-hours per week, paid internship that is made possible through the Extension office and the Greene County Community Foundation with funds from the Iowa Microenterprise Assistance Program.
Call or stop by the Extension office for more information or to sign up.
