Timothy DunphyAn Iowa man faces felony charges from stealing a vehicle in Jefferson.

Police Chief Dave Morlan says a report of a stolen vehicle was made to the department on Saturday, March 22nd from Joe’s Auto Body at 909 North Maple Street.

Later, the alleged stolen 2006 Jeep Wrangler was found at Brushy Creek State Park in Lehigh in Webster County on Tuesday, April 1st in a creek and it was said to be a total loss.  Morlan states that they identified a potential suspect at that time.

Arrest warrants were issued by the police department on Monday, April 14th charging 29 year-old Timothy James Dunphy of Duncombe with a Class C Felony for first degree criminal mischief, a Class C Felony for first degree theft and an aggravated misdemeanor for third degree burglary.

Sheriff Steve Haupert says Dunphy is facing additional charges in Webster County by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.

He was arrested and booked into the Greene County Jail yesterday where he remains on a $30,000 cash surety bond and no trial date has been set.
