law enforcement centerThe Greene County Sheriff’s office and the Drug Enforcement Administration is once again participating in the National Drug Take-Back Day slated for this Saturday.

Sheriff Steve Haupert urges everyone to properly dispose of their unused, unwanted or expired prescription drugs by dropping them off at the Law Enforcement Center from 10am-2pm on Saturday, April 26th.

He talks about the free service that is done anonymously and with no questions asked.

“We have people bring them in all times of the year especially at these Talk-Back Initiatives, which are twice a year and we’ve one coming up here pretty quick.  Bring those prescription drugs in and we will get them packaged and put them in a secure area until they are picked up.”

The DEA will not accept liquids, needles or sharps, only pills and patches.

Last October, the LEC was one of 4,114 collection sites statewide that contributed to taking 647,000 pounds of prescription drugs.

Anyone with questions can call the LEC at 515-386-2136.
