Guthrie Center SignTwo projects in Guthrie County have been announced as recipients of 2014 Community Beautification grants through the Keep Iowa Beautiful program.

The City of Guthrie Center will be receiving nearly $3,900 to purchase new trash receptacles for its downtown area.  City Administrator Laura Imerman says Guthrie Center will purchase at least four new trash cans that match other street decor using the grant funds.

Guthrie Center’s Dora Taylor Community Trust will receive $3,500 for its town sign project.  Three more new entrance signs will soon be installed on the west, south and north sides of Guthrie Center.  The signs will be similar to the one that was stationed on the eastern entrance of town back in December.

In total, Keep Iowa Beautiful will distribute a total of $80,000 in grants to 18 different community related projects throughout the state for its 2014 beautification program.
