The Perry School District has announced plans to honor the educators and support staff that are retiring after the current school year.
Eleven people will be ending their time in the district this year. They include high school English teacher Linda Kaufman who is retiring after 36 years of service, middle school physical education teacher Michael Long who has worked in the district for 34 years, vocal music teacher Gary Weishaar who has been there for 30 years, high school instrumental music teacher Steven Cook who has taught in Perry for 28 years and business education teacher Sharon Ulrich who has worked there for 25 years.
Other retirees include special needs teacher Laura McCord, prep cook Janet Peterson, paraeducator Beatriz Salas, custodian Wayne Dowd, Title I reading teacher Christine Russell, and paraeducator Mary Ridgway.
An educator appreciation reception will be held Wednesday, May 14th. The public is welcome to stop by the Hotel Pattee between 4 and 6pm to join in the celebration.
