The Greene County Intermediate and East Greene Elementary students will be out in full force tomorrow morning to help clean up the cities of Jefferson and Grand Junction.
Principal Maranda Van Cleave says they wanted to do something that would correspond to this year’s mantra of being the “key to success”.
“We’ve been talking a lot about focusing on being safe, respectful and responsible. And so, this particular community service opportunity, we are going to be putting that responsibility into action. We need to be responsible citizens and a part of that is to do a community service.”
Students will be in city parks and other areas cleaning up trash and weeding to make Jefferson and Grand Junction cleaner places to be.
Van Cleave is hoping to extend this new activity to multiple times during the school year and believes that the students will learn what its like to give back to the community.
It will be from 9-11am in various different parts of Jefferson and Grand Junction on Friday, May 9th.
