Members of the Stuart Chamber of Commerce met yesterday for their May session.
To begin the meeting, Treasurer Shannon Behnken went over the organization’s April financials. The Chamber had net income of more than $1,000 last month, after collecting a majority of membership dues.
The Chamber’s net ending balance now sits at more than $6,700.
Vice President Sarah Gomez then addressed the Chamber with some business updates from Midwest Partnership. Her organization is starting to get entries for their annual golf tournament, which is being held on Thursday, June 26th, at Lake Panorama National. Interstate Chevrolet will be sponsoring a hole-in-one win-a-car opportunity at the tournament.
Gomez says the next Regional Entrepreneurial Development Project meeting has also been scheduled. That session will be held on Friday, May 23rd, in Exira.
Next, Shannon Behnken again spoke to the Chamber about the latest with Good Egg Days. Her committee is trying to finalize this year’s theme, with two currently being discussed as possibilities: ‘Going Back to the Good Old Days’ or ‘Restoring the Good Old Days’. Chamber members will vote on the official slogan at the next Good Egg Days meeting, scheduled for next Tuesday at noon at AmericInn.
A couple more business updates were then shared, with one regarding the Stuart Farmer’s Market that begins next week. Gomez says she’s still looking to fill the Chamber schedule for their booth at the market.
Rocktastic coordinator Nate Westre concluded the Chamber meeting with an update about how things are coming together for the popular concert that will be held at the end of August. He says he’s still looking for the event’s big $5,000 sponsor at this time.
Ticket sales though have gone “surprisingly well” to this point, Westre says. The cost to attend this year’s Rocktastic is $30 for general admission seats or $75 for VIP tickets.
The Stuart Chamber of Commerce will next meet at noon on Wednesday, June 4th. The meeting location is still to be determined.
