We’re currently in the midst of National Teacher Appreciation Week, with students from around the country taking the time to honor and recognize the impact teachers have made on their lives in academia and beyond.
Over at West Central Valley, high school principal Debbie Wilson discusses why she believes she’s got a special group of teachers educating area students.
“Our high school teachers are enthusiastic, they have high expectations and they truly want to make the students successful, but they also want the students to do good work. So, they encourage their students by working with them above and beyond contract expectations.”
As area students and their parents contemplate what they can do this week to honor their favorite teachers, Wilson says simply saying “thanks” can go a long way in impacting not just a teacher, but a student as well.
“We do get numerous parents and students who drop us a line and say, ‘thank you for what you’ve done’. Especially at graduation time, we hear a lot of good, nice comments from people just saying, ‘We want to thank you for doing this… I didn’t know how important it was at that time but now I do.”
